LYRASIS www.lyrasis.org a mission-driven, community-led nonprofit serving libraries, museums, and research communities is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our executive team at LYRASIS.

As a CFO, you will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing our financial operations, fostering strategic partnerships, and driving the financial sustainability of our organization.

The Role:

The Chief Financial Officer is an executive position with responsibility for managing the following areas within LYRASIS: Accounting, Grants, Licensing, and Strategic Partnerships. The position is responsible for providing both operational and programmatic support to the organization.

The CFO supervises the finance unit and is the chief financial spokesperson for the organization. The CFO reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and handles the budget management, cost-benefit analysis, forecasting needs, and the securing of new funding.

  • Collaborate with the CEO to craft and execute the organization's strategic vision, nurturing stakeholder relationships, and actively participating in contract development and negotiations.
  • Lead the formulation and execution of comprehensive Long-Range Strategic Financial Plans, fostering LYRASIS's financial well-being and facilitating sustainable growth.
  • Oversee and orchestrate all fiscal reporting endeavors, encompassing revenue/expense documentation, funding agency correspondence, and meticulous budget oversight.
  • Play a pivotal role in Board and Subcommittee assemblies, assuming a prominent position within the Audit/Finance Committee and contributing to vital decision-making processes.
  • Supervise the seamless generation of monthly financial reports and provide expert counsel to LYRASIS departmental leaders in their financial planning endeavors.
  • Promote the enduring financial viability of LYRASIS, actively shaping budget management strategies, conducting incisive cost-benefit analyses, and adeptly pursuing novel avenues for funding.
  • Elevate adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other financial reporting requisites, ensuring the utmost precision and transparency.
  • Safeguard the integrity of LYRASIS's corporate assets while diligently upholding the confidentiality of sensitive records.
  • Foster dynamic engagement across a diverse spectrum of stakeholders, including library management, internal LYRASIS teams, and external business affiliates.

Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in a business-related field, with a preference for an MBA.
  • Active CPA designation is mandatory.
  • Extensive experience in financial management, including budgeting, financial analysis, and accounting.
  • Proven leadership in managing business units, with a track record of profitability.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all organizational levels.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in financial and support functions, including at least 7 years in a management role.
