Essential Functions or Purpose:

The Program Assistant role is responsible for supporting activities that engage organizations and individuals across the ORCID US Community, a group of over 200 non-profit organizations that are members of ORCID in the United States. The person in this role works under the direct supervision of the Strategist for the ORCID US Community, and in close collaboration with others on the Content and Scholarly Communication Initiatives team, especially the Senior Strategist for Open Research Infrastructure Services, as well as other Lyrasis staff, ORCID staff, and ORCID US Community member representatives.


Duties/Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support across the program, with a particular focus on written communications and detailed tasks.
  • Assist with logistics for online events, including coordinating announcements and other publicity; providing basic tech support for live events; and posting recordings and transcripts after the event.
  • Update and maintain the ORCID US Community website, blog, YouTube, Vimeo, and other community resources.
  • Write blogs based on ORCID case study presentations.
  • Assist with the onboarding workflow for new member organizations and contacts, as well as maintaining records of membership and member contact information.
  • Assist with member communications and activities, such as generating institutional ORCID adoption reports and coordinating member gatherings.
  • Assist with outreach to prospective members.
  • Perform any other additional responsibilities as assigned by immediate supervisor or Senior Strategist for Open Research Infrastructure Services.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with/knowledge of ORCID or other persistent identifiers or related open research services infrastructure
  • Experience in the field or understanding of academic libraries, academia, research, scholarly communication, or related fields
  • Experience with a wide variety of communication and productivity tools and software including WordPress, Zoom, Otter.ai, YouTube, Vimeo. Previous experience with the following programs is a plus: Github, RStudio, Tableau

Physical Demands:

  • Occasional travel
  • Staffing exhibit hall booth at conferences

Position Location:

  • The position is part of a geographically distributed team, and, as such, applications from candidates interested in telecommuting are welcome.
