LYRASIS is a service-oriented member supported organization working with and on behalf of libraries, archives and museums in the United States. The Member Services department often serves as the first impression of LYRASIS to more than 1,100 members and as many as 4,000 users from potential member organizations.

As a Member Services Representative (MSR), you will be part of a team that interacts with vendors & publishers, members & clients, and staff colleagues to process orders and invoices for products and services relevant to libraries, museums and archives. Strong analytical skills are key to this role, as are a penchant for accuracy, efficiency and desire to solve problems and provide solutions. The MSR offers a high-end member experience based on skills outlined below and an enthusiasm for the well-being of our member organizations. Duties/Job Responsibilities

  • Analyze vendor pricing, identify, question and resolve inconsistencies
  • Process orders and invoices for subscriptions of electronic resources and other services
  • Interact with members, database publishers/vendors, and staff by email, phone, chat, webinar and other platforms
  • Regularly attend staff meetings to understand the role of Member Services and interdependencies with other departments

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrable analytical and reporting skills
  • 3+ years in an administrative support background in a busy office and fluent with the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • High sense of organization, and able to self-train using available resources
  • Comfortable with the challenge of working with and learning multiple computer applications and systems
  • Excellent grammar and written and spoken communication skills and the ability to manage large amounts of email
  • Ability to multi-task and shift priorities as situations arise


  • Bachelor's or Associate's Degree
  • Experience working in an academic or public library

Physical Demands

  • This is an office-based position requiring the ability to sit at a computer for long periods
  • Occasional travel within the US - 2-4 times yearly. This travel can include conference attendance, working in an exhibit booth and occasional site visits.
  • The ability to lift boxes up to 25 lbs. could be required occasionally
