LYRASIS

LYRASIS is a service-oriented member-supported organization working with and on behalf of libraries, archives, and museums in the United States. LYRASIS is the organizational home for BiblioBoard and associated community engagement tools. BiblioBoard is a web-based suite of tools to help libraries collect and distribute local content.

The Junior Software Engineer's main responsibility is the day-to-day UI/UX development and maintenance of BiblioBoard and associated applications. While frontend is the focus, the engineer will have the opportunity to work in the entire stack. In addition to the development of new code, this position is also responsible for the full life cycle of software development.

Duties/Job Responsibilities:


•Maintenance of the software platform, including building, packaging, and deployment in all three environments (development, test, and production).
•Upgrades and enhancements to the BiblioBoard user interface and/or architecture as a result of code reviews and additional functional specifications.
•Software quality assurance for major releases.
•Technical documentation


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


•Effective oral and written communication skills, including experience producing technical documentation.
•Must possess self-directed initiative and excel in the areas of time management, organization, and prioritization.
•Ability to interact with other developers and business teams.
•Ability to troubleshoot application, database, network, and operating system-related issues.

Technical Experience and Training

Required:

  • 1-2 years software development experience
  • JavaScript with at least one framework such as Vue, React, Angular, etc.
  • CSS/HTML
  • Unix familiarity
  • Git
  • Experience in Computer Science or a related field


Preferred:

• Java or other JVM based language(s)
• Experience working in an Agile environment
• Backbone.js
• MySQL/SQL
• EPUB/PDF
• AWS Cloud Services
• Node
• Lucene/SOLR
